founder of the J.L. Edmonds Project, an initiative dedicated to preserving the history and culture of the Black American West. She has curated and presented her research about Black history, memory and legacy at several cultural institutions around the U.S. Her family archives stretch back to the 1850's and her story as the keeper of her ancestral records can be found in the New York Times 1619 Project, The Root and LA Weekly. She is currently a Senior Civic Media fellow at USC Annenberg funded by the MacArthur Foundation and a newly appointed Commissioner of the Los Angeles Public Library. Vol. I encouraged community members with connections to the Hyde Park and Inglewood to share archival photos and memories of significant spaces, places and landmarks. These stories and images formed an interactive map and digital campaign in conjunction with Schoenstadt’s Metro station mural design. Select images are being archived at the Los Angeles Public Library, TESSA digital collections. AAH&amp;E researches, documents, and interprets Black community histories in dozens of state parks. The project connects memory keepers and knowledge bearers: external stakeholders, scholars, artists, designers, Parks staff and volunteers, and a curatorial team of archivists. Arianne Edmonds has served as a scholar turn Project Manager &amp; Curator for the AAH&amp;E project since 2023.&nbsp; This project is made possible by a one-time, five-year project fund awarded by the state legislature in July 2022. The funds support staff, docent, and partner training to interpret and institutionalize newly restored histories. Through art, soundscapes and augmented reality, this dynamic collaboration wove a thread of stories together that captured the power of culture, media and arts to tell reparative and transformative stories. This activation was held as the culmination of both Media 2070’s fellowship with the Charlotta Bass Journalism &amp; Justice Lab and The Remedy Is Solidarity, ZEAL Co-op’s global multimedia anthology on reparations. On the west side, the Palisades Fire consumed the oceanside communities of Malibu and the Pacific Palisades. On the east side, the Eaton Fire set ablaze the mountainside communities of Pasadena and Sierra Madre and overtook the town of Altadena, reducing much of it to ash. During the 1950s and 1960s, Altadena was home to a burgeoning Black community and was hailed as the epicenter of Black arts activity in Los Angeles County. Though this designation arguably shifted to the South Central neighborhood of Watts in the wake of the 1965 Watts Rebellion, Altadena continued to develop as a vibrant and creative haven with a distinctive Black cultural imprint. Since then, Altadena and the adjacent city of Pasadena have served as home to an extraordinary array of Black artists, educators, musicians, intellectuals, entrepreneurs, and activists. Ode to ’Dena lauds the rich and dynamic Black cultural heritage of Altadena. It surveys the town’s enduring legacy through the work and stories of an intergenerational group of artists and culture bearers that have called it home. Ode to ’Dena: Black Artistic Legacies of Altadena is curated by Dominique Clayton, independent curator and founder of Dominique Gallery, in community with Larry Earl, Kenturah Davis, Arianne Edmonds, Dylan Joyner, and V. organization dedicated to the health and well-being of Black women and girls, is pleased to announce the launch of its Fierce Aunties Campaign. This campaign aims to engage and empower Aunties within our community to further the reproductive justice movement.&nbsp; BWW recognizes the crucial role Aunties play within our communities. Often serving as pillars of strength and wisdom, Aunties have historically been instrumental in nurturing and supporting their families. However, they have not always been fully included in discussions surrounding reproductive justice. The Fierce Aunties Campaign seeks to change that narrative by inviting Aunties to join the movement to secure safe and equitable sexual health services, abortions and reproductive health care for our loved ones. collective grieving ceremony and guided meditation at the historically Black “Inkwell” Beach, Santa Monica in June and July of 2020.&nbsp; Guests were asked to bring flowers as an offering to the ocean and photos of family members or those they’d like to remember.
